Clean your car interior like a pro.
Interior cleaning requires good organization, logical thinking, and a solid understanding of the different materials to be cleaned.
In this guide, we’ll share with you some often-overlooked techniques that allow you to clean a car’s interior quickly and efficiently. By applying these methods, most vehicles can be fully detailed in under two hours, achieving professional results and great satisfaction — whether for your clients or for yourself.
The main obstacle to efficiency
One of the most common challenges is a lack of organization and proper equipment. Always take the time to prepare your tools and products before starting. This prevents interruptions during the job and keeps your workflow smooth. Every break costs precious time — the smoother your process, the faster and more professional your results.
Duration
A complete interior cleaning usually takes between two and three hours, depending on the vehicle’s condition. With the right method and proper tools, you can achieve a clean, flawless result in much less time.
Essential equipment:
-
High-quality microfiber cloths
-
Several brushes and detailing tools
-
Fabric and carpet cleaner
-
Suitable protection product
-
Glass cleaner and dedicated microfiber towels
The 6-step process
-
Initial vacuuming
Start by vacuuming the entire interior of the vehicle. Work methodically, following a consistent direction (for example, clockwise). Combine blowing and vacuuming to reach every corner. This step should take about 15 to 30 minutes. -
Carpet cleaning
If the mats are only slightly dirty, a textile cleaner and an extractor are sufficient. For heavier dirt (mud, salt, pet hair), use a pressure washer before extraction. The goal is to leave the mats clean and as dry as possible. -
Leather, vinyl, and rubber care
Use suitable brushes, soft detailing tools, and cleaning pads. Start with upper areas such as the center console, then move downward to the doors. Clean the steering wheel, buttons, and cup holders carefully. For leather seats, apply a dedicated cleaner, gently agitate, and wipe with a clean microfiber towel. -
Fabric cleaning
For fabric seats and carpets, avoid excessive water. Brush, wipe, vacuum, and allow to dry. For stubborn stains, a steam cleaner can be effective. The goal is a clean, dry, odor-free fabric. -
Applying protection
Apply a suitable protection product to all surfaces (leather, fabric, plastic). Use a microfiber applicator and remove any excess product. Never apply dressing to the pedals to avoid slipping risks. -
Glass cleaning
Always finish with the windows. Clean both inside and outside using two different microfiber cloths: one for cleaning and one for drying. Lower the windows slightly to clean the edges and prevent streaks.
In summary
Interior detailing is above all about proper methods and good preparation. With the right tools, a clear process, and an organized approach, you can achieve professional results in minimal time — whether for your customers or your own vehicle.
